Marlin’s professional journey is notably marked by his specialized involvement in the Oil and Gas Sector. After earning an Applied Environmental Degree from Lakeland College in 1999, he embarked on his career with Renaissance Energy, a medium-sized oil producer. In this capacity, he managed an extensive portfolio of decommissioned and idle assets, overseeing operations ranging from minor clean-up tasks to comprehensive soil remediation and
reclamation projects. His transition from field contracting to a pivotal role as Reclamation Coordinator at the corporate headquarters in Calgary was seamless, particularly during the company's acquisition by Husky Oil. In this role, Marlin’s responsibilities burgeoned, eventually leading him to the position of Construction Superintendent for Husky in the southern region of Western Canada, where he was entrusted with the oversight of all construction and logistical operations within the operational areas.

In 2003, Marlin further broadened his professional scope by acquiring his Alberta Land Agent’s license, enabling him to adeptly negotiate and secure Pipeline Right of Ways (ROWs), Wellsite Leases for drilling and production, and conduct rental reviews for dormant assets. His passion for contracting led him back to the service sector, where he provided his expertise to various Oil
and Gas companies, including Husky.

The year 2010 marked a significant milestone in Marlin’s career with the inception of Stratum Energy, a consultancy firm specializing in the recruitment, management, and payrolling of contract workers, particularly in the Construction & Reclamation sectors. Under his leadership, Stratum Energy not only managed a portfolio of over 200 contractors, but also pioneered a
subscription-based technology platform called HSEtracker, amassing over 10,000 subscribers before its successful sale in 2019.

Following a strategic merger with Norchief Consulting Services in 2016, Stratum Energy evolved into Stratum Group Ventures Inc., expanding its service offerings to include Pipeline, Drilling, Completions, Seismic, and Safety management, thereby increasing its consultant base to over 500 professionals. Stratum Group Ventures Inc. continues to thrive, providing essential personnel to support medium to large-sized producers in achieving their project objectives. 

Throughout his illustrious career, Marlin has consistently demonstrated a commitment to project-based work, emphasizing the importance of collaboration, precise timing, extensive experience, and the delivery of projects within budget and on schedule. His comprehensive understanding of the intricacies involved in both the Oil and Gas and Real Estate sectors,
